“The Back Of Beyond” is a joint project of composer/pianist Chaerin Im and composer Song youngnam.
This project is based on a simple motif, which served as a basis for the 8 tracks on the album.
This motif morphs, develops and blends with elements taken from classical music, free improvisation and ambient.
Chaerin invited four international musicians for this project (Matteo Mazzù on bass, Miklós Kovács on drums, Micheal Murray on alto saxophone and the guest Antonio Mariano Moreno Glazkov on trumpet). This project has a very personal sound, drastic string arrangements, big range of dynamic and unexpected improvisations.
“The Back Of Beyond” is released/supported by South Korean record store&label, Sounds Good store.

[Someone’s journey is somewhat cynical. The beginning is always bold, but there has to be an end, and it can't always be pleasant. I don't know if this journey will end in a happening that can’t be laughed at or not at all. I don't want it to end just in vain. I wish all the best in this journey.]

‘Valuable album of Impro/jazz for pianist Chaerin Im and composer Song Youngnam. Projected into the future, the pianist attacks the music with portions of sophisticated jazz minimalism. The Back Of Beyond album is an abstract jazz project, a motif that transforms, develops and merges with elements from classical music, free improvisation and ambient. This work has a very personal sound, drastic arrangements and a wide range of dynamic and unexpected improvisations. Eight concept pieces, transforming the talent of this truly excellent jazz pianist. In the cast, Miklós Kovács (drums), Micheal Murray (sax), Matteo Mazzù (bass), Antonio Mariano Moreno Glazko (trumpet). The songs are created with extreme attention to detail, the nuances of sound and the suggestion of tones. Each member of the group brings their own individuality in search of a borderline sound. Sublime.’
